Getting your Website or Blog Noticed
Blogs are already in huge abundance across the net today, there are literally billions of blogs and tens of thousands being newly created everyday.The majority of bloggers type away their personal thoughts with no real need to attract an audience, it basically provides a platform online that would have been isolated to your diary before the days of the net.
If you are in the next set of users that needs to attract an audience of readers then you will be looking at ways of promoting your blog to the masses, this is where the free blog pinging services come into the equation.
If you have come this far then you will already have read up on link exchanges, link submissions and adding your blogs url to the search engines so i will not go into that detail, i will instead bore you with the stuff you need to know about getting your blog noticed by the masses.
First and foremost the most resounding advice i could give is keep your content fresh, by this i do not mean it has to be unique because it does not. By fresh i mean write about the subject you know, write it in your own style and for petes sake do not go down the "how to optimise your website" route. I say this simply because if you have written your blog naturally then chances are you will attract the visitors you need.
How is this done?
Your blog may only have maybe 10 to 20 articles in the very beginning and you already know that you have submitted it to Google, Yahoo and MSN and a few other search engines, but this is as far as the basic blog user goes, they are then stuck on what to do.
Well you have your first step right, now there are quite a few options you can now take and this is where the evolution of Web 2.0 comes in.
What is Web 2.0?
Web 2.0 to the user is the opportunity to interact with other users online through social bookmarking websites such as Facebook, Digg, Stumbleupon and again thousands of others besides.
From the web authors point of view these social bookmarking websites provide an opportunity to further enhance the visibility of their websites within the profiles of these social bookmarking websites.
So what is the logic behind getting your website noticed?
The simple logic is register to as many of these social bookmarking websites as possible, they are all free so do not sign up to the ones that ask for a registration free, edit your profile to include a link to your blog and in most cases you will also have the opportunity to add an RSS feed as well.
Once you have registered to as many as you can you need to get started on Pinging. Pinging is yet another tool used to alert RSS feed reader websites that you have new content, in turn the Search Engines will read these feed reader websites as pointers to what is fresh on the net, when i say fresh i mean the robots the search engines use will be revisiting these websites on a constant basis.
So in a nutshell here is what you need to do to get your website noticed in 3 easy steps.
1. If you have not done so already, submit your website to a few search engines and here is a list of links to get you started.
You can submit to even more search engines using a more comprehensive list of search engines with an online tool that will submit your blog or website directly to the search engines submission pages freely available through Submit Express.
2. The Social Networking List, take your time over these, maybe revisit this page a few times before you complete the list, register to as many as you can, they are all free and they will provide the links back to your website that you need.

3. Now comes the easy part. Every time you add new content to your website or blog you need to let the RSS readers and aggregators know about it, we do this through the free pinging services.
The most popular of these and yet again free are listed here, you can use any or all of these within the list and you will only have to do it once, why? because after you have submitted your website all you have to do is bookmark the results page, then every time you have new content you will only ever have to go to your bookmarks within your browser!!
