Web 2.0 Polaroid Effect

I have in recent months made the switch to a web 2.0 look and feel, and because of this it has produced a more aesthetically pleasing design for one and the added advantage of becoming part of the social bookmarking interaction that web 2.0 has brought.

Not completely content with this i thought as a designer who looks for the best of what there is out there along with my own creative ideas i needed an answer to speed up the process of adding images that looked the same as polaroids without ever having to open Photoshop.

Well i have tracked it down and hopefully publishing this article it will help further promote the use of the Polaroid effect.

In a nutshell that is what i wanted to achieve an i will be adopting it for my portfolio page also. Instant.js from Netzgesta is an innovative yet unobtrusive Javascript that adds the "Polaroid Effect" simply by adding a class attribute to any image you would like to apply it to.

Not only can you add the polaroid effect you can change the rotation of the polaroid to change the way the image appears "lays" on your page! genius.

There has been a lot of drum beating from coders and designers, SEO`s and others who said that Javascript had had it`s day during the nineties and was limited to fanciful rollovers, nope Javascript is still welcome as a tool in my arsenal of scripts to call upon and can work well as long as it`s kept to a moderation.

A few examples of the Polaroid effect can be seen below, again these are applied by simply by calling the JS from within the HEAD tags of the page you would like to use them within and adding a simple class="instant" to all of the images you would like to apply the effect to.
